Put AI to work on hundreds of rows in Google Sheets — and in your Docs and Slides

For marketers, analysts, shop owners and teams who work in Google Workspace: write an instruction once, run it over a whole column, and get product descriptions, categories, translations or extracted data in every row — plus drafting and rewriting in Docs and Slides.

Example (fictional data)

An online shop has 900 products in a Google Sheet with names and short specs. The owner writes one instruction — a two-sentence description in a friendly tone, plus a category from a fixed list — and runs it over the column. In a few minutes every row has a description and a category; the owner checks a sample, fixes ten rows by hand and copies the rest into the shop.

How it works

A lot of everyday work happens in spreadsheets: product lists for an online shop, survey answers, lead lists, keyword lists, support tickets exported from a helpdesk. Much of it is text that needs to be sorted, cleaned, summarised, translated or written from scratch, row after row.

Chat assistants can do this kind of work well, but not in bulk. People paste rows into a chat window a few at a time, copy the answers back, and lose track of which rows are done. Built-in AI features in office suites help with single cells, but they come with limits on how many cells can be processed in one run and depend on the plan the account is on.

The add-on brings AI models into Google Sheets, Docs and Slides. In Sheets you write an instruction once — for example, a category from a list, the company name from an email signature, or a translation into Spanish — and apply it to a whole column.

It works as a cell formula, so the instruction can refer to other cells in the row, or as a bulk action that fills a column and keeps the results as plain values. Long lists are processed in the background, and rows that failed can be run again without repeating the rest.

Typical jobs include writing product descriptions and ad texts, sorting feedback and tickets into categories, extracting names, dates or amounts from unstructured text, cleaning and normalising data, translating lists and summarising long answers.

In Docs and Slides you select text and ask the add-on to draft, rewrite, shorten, change the tone or translate it. The result appears next to the original, so you decide what to keep.

You can choose among several AI models, so simple sorting can use a fast, low-cost model and demanding writing can use a stronger one. Usage is shown per run, so there are no surprises at the end of the month.

The add-on is meant for individuals and small teams in any country who already work in Google Workspace. It runs inside the editors; nothing needs to be installed on a computer.

Instructions can be saved and reused, so a team can keep its own set: the house style for product texts, the list of categories for tickets, the fields to pull out of an inquiry. Anyone on the team runs the same instruction on a new list and gets results in the same format as last time.

The service is in preparation: we are checking whether Google Workspace users need it before it is built.

AI answers can be wrong. The add-on writes results into your files, and checking them before use stays with you.

Questions

Who is it for?

People and small teams who work in Google Sheets, Docs and Slides and want AI to process lists and text in bulk.

How many rows can I process at once?

Hundreds or thousands — a whole column in one run, processed in the background.

Does it work in Docs and Slides too?

Yes: draft, rewrite, shorten, change tone or translate selected text.

Are the results always correct?

No. AI answers can be wrong, so check a sample before using the results.

Can I use it already?

Not yet. The service is in preparation, and we are checking whether Google Workspace users need it.
